Welcome to my website. My name is Chris Blunt. I am a philosopher of medicine, working at the London School of Economics. I work on Evidence-Based Medicine, hierarchies of evidence, and other problems related to evidence and ethics in biomedical research, medical genomics and complementary & alternative medicine.
I received my PhD in 2015, with a thesis focussed on ‘Hierarchies of Evidence’, a popular tool for appraising evidence used in medical practice, and a common way of teaching evidence appraisal to medical students. I maintain the largest database of such hierarchies online. If you know of a hierarchy which is not listed here, please do contact me.
Along with Rosa Runhardt, I run the website WritePhilosophy.com, which contains guides to philosophical writing, exercises to help students develop their skills, and philosophical resources. It is also the platform for my philosophical writing and critical thinking course PAW.
I also teach a number of courses at LSE, including PAW: “Philosophy & Argumentative Writing”, a compulsory module for all undergraduate philosophy students, PH103, PH213 and LSE100. I work for LSE’s Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) as Qualitative Studies Advisor.
